A truly unforgettable stay, mainly because we never actually managed to enter it.
Check in was less of a process and more of an endurance sport. Upon arrival, we discovered that access to the property required an €800 deposit, which was an interesting artistic choice given that the entire stay cost €499. One does admire the ambition.
Then came the payment link theatre: around twenty emails and links sent throughout the day, most of them either broken, unreliable, or routed through questionable third party systems. I had foolishly assumed a holiday involved sightseeing; instead, I spent it in a shopping centre conducting unpaid administrative labour for the host.
Even after payment was finally made, nothing happened. No access, no solution, and no human response of any practical value. We arrived at 2 p.m. and were still outside at 2 a.m., which is certainly one way to offer guests an immersive Parisian street experience.
Welkeys managed to combine the warmth of an abandoned mailbox with the efficiency of a fax machine in a thunderstorm. The lack of empathy was almost impressive.
If you enjoy broken links, excessive deposits, administrative absurdity, and being left outside for twelve hours, this may be the perfect place for you. Otherwise, I would strongly recommend staying literally anywhere else.
One final suggestion: before booking, spend five minutes doing your homework. Look up Welkeys, read independent guest reviews, or even ask your favourite AI, ChatGPT, Gemini, or Claude, what previous guests have said about their experiences. You may discover that my story is far less unique than I had hoped.

We enjoyed our stay overall. The apartment was in a convenient location, about a 15-20 minute walk to the Metro. We found a couple of restaurants in that location, which were lovely. The main area for improvement would be the kitchen, which was not as clean as we would have expected when we arrived. In fact, we felt we left he kitchen cleaner than we found it. The rest of the apartment was good. Communication was pleasant, but a little confusing at times because we communicated with several different people rather than one consistent contact from the beginning. This made the process feel less smooth than it could have been. That said, the location worked well for us, the Metro access was convenient, and we appreciated being able to find restaurants nearby. With a little more attention to kitchen cleanliness and clearer communication from the onset, this could be an even better stay.
